Stephanie’s Story

Steph S.

What does depression look like for you?

Depression is wanting to give up because you don’t feel like you’ll ever be good enough. It’s shutting yourself out from the rest of the world because you think you’re a burden. Depression is a difficult feeling to describe, but when you are in it, you look in all the wrong places to try and make it go away. Even after trying your hardest to make it go away, at the end of the day, it’s still there and each day feels more and more hopeless. Depression is being stuck in your own headspace and not knowing how to find a way out because you think no one cares enough to help you on the other side.

Have you been touched, or do you know someone who has been touched, by depression or other mental disorder?

Yes! A few years ago. I have my wonderful support system of family, friends, and my ever so amazing therapist at the time, Tiffani (LOVE YOU!!!) to thank for guiding me to where I am today.

Your meaningful message you would say to someone who is currently going through depression or other mental disorder:

You absolutely matter and you are not alone. I am here for you and this community is here for you.
